Are you wondering 'what is this ShenSonic?' Well, gaming company Sega used to make consoles, you know. Their games were good, unlike today. One of their greatest games was for Dreamcast called Shenmue. Young Japanese man called Ryo Hazuki is trying to find the man who
killed his father in cold blood. It is a quest full of emotion and mysterious people, so it is no surprise Shenmue is highly regarded among gaming enthusiastics and has gained a large fanbase. The second part was released for Xbox and also for Dreamcast in Europe. Unfortunately the sales weren't satisfactory, and the plug was pulled for a third part.
But fear not, young padawan or whatnot. In the year 2001, a young Finnish boy dreamed of merging Sonic the Hedgehog and Ryo Hazuki, thus making ShenSonic, a tale of Sonic Hezuki. Sounds weird, huh? It sure is, but loads of fun at the same time. After much work and several builds later, ShenSonic was ready in spring 2004.
All the people who loved to play Shenmue could relive those moments but from a different point of view. Sonic-fans praised the roleplaying elements, Shenmue fans meticulously recreated vistas and Sonic-atmosphere. Now that you know what ShenSonic is, try it yourself.

Time goes by so fast, doesn't it? Five years ago I released the latest version of ShenSonic. Back then I was truly a different person than I am today. As the situation has changed, I have changed. Gaming has changed as well with the release of Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the most successful one, Nintendo Wii.
Unfortunately for us Shenmue-fans, the times, they are a changin'. Ten years ago Sega gave the gaming world one of its finest, Shenmue. Today, mainstream gamer doesn't care about Ryo's destiny. There is no real market for the series in a time when all companies bow to "casual gaming" ideology.
Shenmue was designed by industry legend Yu Suzuki, who, as we have now heard, has been transfered to a diminished position at Sega. We like to dream, but with Suzuki's move, Shenmue III is finally done for.
I would still like to see the two Shenmue's in Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network though.
Sometimes you would just like to go back.

Loooong time no see. I am alive, well and kicking. I just read a comment that a visitor had left on ShenSonic's guestbook and it sure made me happy. Dear gamer, I'm proud and grateful that you like my little creation ShenSonic. All I can say is have a great summer and keep on playing!
As many adult gamers now, other stuff in life takes more and more time from your gaming hobby, so that's why I haven't really had a chance to make an update here.
And don't you fret, the game ain't gonna die. You who play it and love it keep it alive. Nice to see that you beat Chai at the Arcade, there is only a small chance to do that. You never know, maybe I manage to make version 1.5 someday...

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to everybody! I am thrilled that good ol' Shenmue II is backwards-compatible for Xbox 360. Brings up some good memories. Yes, I am aware that my host, 50megs, is getting to new heights in its crappiness, forcing you to see stupid ads. I am currently trying to find a reliable, no upload-limit, free host. Happen to know any? Feel free to send me an e-mail, as always. In the meantime, one solution is to simply press "stop" when the page has been loaded.

We got a brand new affiliate, good Shenmue-website called Shenmue Archive. Check it out! We will soon get our hands on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and maybe, maybe, we will someday have Shenmue III. You can always dream. With this update, you can see I'm alive. Just been very busy with my job and all.
By the way, with the sudden disappearance of my former downloads-host, Shenmue Planet, I'd need somebody to host ShenSonic 1.4, Alpha ShenSonic and the three trailers. If you can help me, Mail simsonic[at]gmail.com.

Today I have my Xbox 360 premium pack with PGR3 and King Kong, and it sure is a great console! Of course we Shenmue-fans want Shenmue III for it, but thank Lord that Sonic the Hedgehog is already on the way. :) I fixed the links in the reviews-section, and added one new review.
